A Call for Help: Translating Prominence II!

Hello again everyone, as you might've seen, Prominence has been slowly being translated into Spanish with time. I don't want to stop there and only have two languages, that's why I'm calling for your help.

If you know how to translate from English to your native language, you can help contribute into it!

Individual Mods

The first step into contributing translations is to check which mods aren't translated, to check them, let's do the following:

  1. Launch Prominence on the latest available version
  2. Go to Language Settings and select the language you want to translate
  3. Use EMI or the Creative Tab to go through individual mods and see if they are translated already or are only available in English
  4. Add that mod into a list

Once you have your full list done, you can start with the individual mod translations, by going into the mod's jar and searching for its en_us.json under resources, you can copy over that file and then translate it. Once you're finished with the translation, you can create a resource pack and have it there.

Please do follow some rules, though:

  1. Stick to the style from vanilla. Translate the words as they are in vanilla.
  2. Don't use conventional translators. Such as Google Translate, which are not good for full sentences and don't understand context.
  3. Avoid the use of AI. While not strictly prohibited, you should always check it's correct if you are using AI to translate, as it might not be fully correct.

What to do once the resourcepack has been created?

Once you have a working resourcepack, you have two options that will allow me to integrate them into CurseForge:

  1. Upload the resourcepack as an unofficial translation (Recommended)
  2. PR the translation into the mod via GitHub

My best suggestion is to do both, or you can have the unofficial translations be under the public domain so mod authors can simply use them officially if they want to.

Why not just PR it?

Prominence is a really big modpack and some mods have to stay on lower version because of certain changes that may break compatibility or due to mechanics being changed, meaning that if you PR the mod and the developer updates the mod with the translation, I would be forced to update that mod and have the new features even if I didn't want to.

By having the translations uploaded as resource packs, I will be able to simply add them in the next update and have them forcefully on, meaning that anyone that switches to that language will automatically have the community translations for the mods available.

Translating Quests, Menus, etc.

At the moment, please do not translate these!

v4.0 is under development and will release soon, this update will have an overhaul to the questing system that will allow for easy translations, so until then, do not contribute translations for quests and such.

Right now the objective is to clear out the individual mods, which is the overall content of the modpack.

Contributing your translations

If you have uploaded the resourcepacks and you wish to contribute them so they're by default in Prominence, please fill the form below, only once per person.

CurseForge Uploaded Translation for ProminenceBefore filling, make sure you have read the Prominence Blog Post with information on how to translate the mods and upload them into CurseForge. Also make sure that the translation projects are approved and ready to be downloaded publicly. Do NOT upload quests or any other Prominence-only translations, this is only for unofficial individual mod translations.forms.gle

Thank you everyone, my objective will be to have Prominence as accessible as possible to everyone from all over the world in the next few months.
